NEW YEAR’S RETRIBUTION - PINK VS BLACK!

NEW YEAR’S RETRIBUTION: THE LONDON ROLLERGIRLS GRUDGE MATCH!

The London Rollergirls’ two hard-hitting, fast-skating teams will be going head to head on Saturday 19 January 2008 for a fearsome grudge match. It’s London’s second public roller derby match — our last bout was a 400 capacity sell-out event, so book tickets now or start looking for a pillow to sob into.

And you can expect more from roller derby bouts than your average Saturday afternoon sports match. As well as some seriously awesome athleticism, there will be a bar; half-time entertainment; DJs playing punk, pop, indie and electro; and cool raffle prizes to be won. You can congratulate your favourite rollergirl with a beer afterwards, at the afterparty in a nearby bar, details TBC.

ADVANCE TICKETS SOLD OUT!! We’ll have around 30 tickets available to buy on the door - get there early if you want to get in!

See you there!

DERBY BOOT CAMP FULL!!!

**ALL PLACES NOW FILLED**

We’re holding a Roller Derby Boot Camp on Saturday February 2nd 2008, for skaters and referees from across the UK (and Europe and anywhere else if you can make it!) There’ll be off and on-skates training, mixed scrimmages and workshops on everything from refereeing to taking care of your skates and gear to setting up your own league, and a chance to meet rollergirls from all over the UK! This is not just for girls who are already part of a league, maybe there’s no league where you live and you want to set one up, or there’s a league near you that you’d like to join but would like to know some of the basics first? Maybe you’d like to referee? This is for you too! There’ll be something for everyone from the freshest of fresh meat to the girls who just like to hit people… All we ask is that you’re 18 years or over and have your own gear and bring it with you (skates, helmet, wrist guards, knee and elbow pads and of course a mouthguard.)

We’ll even take you out drinking afterwards!

SKATER & REFEREE REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED

If you are a skater and would still like to attend, please email info@londonrollergirls.com

AND WRECK THE HALLS WE DID…

Okay, not really. We’re angels, honest!

The night kicked off with London Rollergirls very own Silky Briefs and her Christmas helpers arriving early to set everything up and turn The Old Kings Head into a pink, black ‘n’ silver LRG Crimbo extravaganza. So with a lot of tinsel, some handmade paper chains, one big banner, mistletoe, candy canes and a lovely pink Christmas tree the pub was transformed into a rollergirls winter ‘pub’ wonderland.

As the rest of the rollergirls and friends arrived, the party had well and truly started. So for all those who came down to join in the festive fun, thank you, it was great to see so many people come and support LRG, and I hope you had as much fun and frolics as we did. For those who missed out (where the hell were you?) the seasonal highlights were the rollergirl style bake sale (with the Oreo Balls selling out and being an all round addictive treat. Don’t know what Oreo Balls are, make sure you’re at our next fundraiser to find out!), the raffle with some ‘adult’ prizes, LRG’s very own ‘not so secret Santa’ el VISIOUS, plus some awesome set lists by Rollergirl DJ’s that kept everyone dancing into the wee hours (or when the pub closed and everyone was kicked out).

Plus a big, big THANK YOU to all the bands who played at the fundraiser including LRG’s own Blue Murder aka the gorgeous voice of Milly Blue; quiet is the new loud with You and Me; they dress like rollergirls and are all round electro mentalists The Duloks and the very chic rock ‘n’ roll Voodoo Hussy. All the bands were ace and everyone at LRG had an awesome time – you guys rock!

That’s all from us for this year, but fear not the next London Rollergirls Bout is on January 19th at the Tottenham Green Leisure Centre. This is an intra-league bout with the ultimate grudge match of LRG Black Vs LRG Pink, expect some full-tilt rollergirl action with LRG Pink having a score to settle after LRG Black kicked ass to win 100 to 77 in September.

Stay tuned for full details and where to purchase tickets.
