We thought it was great fun to have two bouts in one day, and you agreed, so we’re doing it again! Our intraleague season is over, and we are playing other leagues. First, our newly formed all-star reserves Team, the Brawl Saints, will take on Leeds Roller Dolls. Then our all-star team, London Brawling, will play Birmingham Blitz Derby Dames‘ Brummie Bombshells.

Tickets will be limited. Be sure to buy early to avoid disappointment–we sold out well in advance of the last bout, so make sure you don’t miss out this time! Tickets are £10 in advance (two bouts!) or £12 on the door (if we have any left).

Doors open at 4:00 and the first bout starts at 5:00PM.

London Rollergirls present Grand Slam! Our season finale is a double header!

First up we’ll have our own Ultraviolent Femmes taking on Barockcity Rollerderby from Ludwigsburg, Germany, and after a short break for you to get your breath back you’ll see the Suffra Jets take on the Steam Rollers for the right to call themselves the first ever LRG League Champions!

Tickets for this double header will be limited as we oversold last time and it was all a bit crowded, so buy early to avoid disappointment! Tickets are £10 in advance this time (two bouts, though!) or £12 on the door.

After a continuous 32 months of hard slog (okay, we had a week off at Xmas last year) the London Rollergirls are taking a much needed and well overdue month off. Our first official off-season…or mid-season break if you want to get technical.

It’s been a great year for us. We finished off our Pink vs Black Expo Season, and kicked-off our inaugural intra-league season, introducing our three permanent league teams, the Steam Rollers, Suffra Jets and Ultraviolent Femmes.

London Brawling, our all-star travel team also finishes the year thus far undefeated with wins against the Birmingham Blitz Derby Dames, Glasgow Roller Girls, and Team Canada.

So…what do we have in store for 2009? Here are the important LRG dates for your derby-diary! Apart from popping up as special guest skaters in bouts around the UK we have:

January 10: Next Basic Skills Session/Newbie Intake/Intro to Derby
Join the derby revolution – this session is open to skaters and referees wishing to join LRG. You don’t need to register or anything, just show up with your skates and gear. For gear advice, info, reassurance you won’t be eaten or if you just want to chat, sign up for our forum and introduce yourself. We love anyone who loves derby!

February 7: Clockwork Carnage!
Steam Rollers vs Ultraviolent Femmes
It will be the first time these two teams meet on the track, and will be the game that decides which of these two teams will make it to the championship.

February 8: Southern Ref Boot Camp and Open Scrimmage
Come one come all, we’ll be hosting a combined referee boot camp (all levels of experience welcome) for all you derby referees, and open scrimmage for all rollergirls who meet WFTDA minimum skills standards. Come for the bout and make a weekend of it!

April 25: LRG Championship Bout (Home)
The Suffra Jets have already made it to the championship! We don’t yet know who their opponents will be, but it’s bound to be a doozy, and you won’t want to miss it!

June 6: Intra-league Bout! (Home)
London Rollergirls’ London Brawling vs Birmingham Blitz Derby Dames’ Brummie Bombshells
This is round two – the Blitz Dames will be out for revenge, while the LRG will want to impress on their own turf. Who will emerge victorious?

July 18 & 19: Roll Britannia!
We’re chuffed to host a 2-day European Tournament here in sunny (?) London Town, complete with special guests from our big-sister leagues in the USA. See the best derby Europe has to offer.

The London Rollergirls could also be tearing up a track near you. We have skates and we want to travel! Stay tuned for additional inter-league derby dates around the UK.

The Steam Rollers fought hard but the Suffra Jets emerged victorious, 103-89. More details, photos and a full write up to follow.

Saturday’s victory means the Suffra Jets qualify for the championship game in April! They will be joined by the winners of February’s bout between the Steam Rollers and Ultraviolent Femmes, and you can be sure whichever team takes that place in the championship game will be out for revenge…

It’s the debut of the Steam Rollers as they take on the Suffra Jets on Saturday, 6th December at Tottenham Green Leisure Centre! The Suffra Jets won their last bout against the Ultraviolent Femmes–will they triumph again?

Doors open at 5:00 and the bout starts at 6:00PM. Tickets are £8 in advance or £10 on the door. There are a number of ways you can buy them in advance:
