League Blogs

fox blogs: part 1

The week before two Brawl Saints games followed by a summer break is probably not the best time to start a training diary/blog thing, but my timing has never been spectacular. So here we go anyway. Hi.

A bit about me, before we begin. I'm Fox Sake, and I have a derby problem. I've been a member of the London Rollergirls for a little over four years now. I'm primarily a jammer for both my home team, the Steam Rollers, and our travel team, London Brawling. I've been around for four-fifths of the life of the league - longer than most, not as long as some - and seen us develop from our very first wobbly-legged closed-door bout to our position today as the biggest and best league in Europe. I played in the recent "Anarchy in the UK" tournament that we hosted, against Montreal, Steel City and Charm City, and I'm hugely proud to be helping take European derby forward into full-fledged WFTDA competition.

I plan to post my general thoughts on training and upcoming games here, and probably nerd out a bit about gear too. Foremost on the schedule right now is the LRG Season Championship on the 9th July (buy tickets here!) where my Steam Rollers will take on the Harbour Grudges, hopefully resulting in our first title! We finished bottom of the heap last season, so this is an exciting turnaround for us. Following that London Brawling will take on the mighty Rocky Mountain Rollergirls, current WFTDA champions, which I am simultaneously super excited and utterly terrified by. Eek...
