London Rollergirls is 6 years old!

Six years ago today I boarded a plane in Los Angeles bound for Heathrow – toting along one genuine set of derby gear.  I was coming to London to lead the inaugural practice for what I had pre-emptively named London Rollergirls, the first female flat track roller derby league in the UK.

Rollergirls meet rollerkids

On Saturday London Rollergirls took a group of young energetic RollaDome skaters through their Derby paces. With a mixed ability group the young skaters were shown the basic principles of roller derby and how to stop and fall safely. Then the young skaters took part in a relay race to hone their skills. Next came packwork and skating closely together as a unit. Thanks to RollaDome we had a great time and we saw some great potential for Rollergirls and Boys of the future!
