Description
This bootcamp's focus is: Blocking.
Learn from some the best rollergirls in Europe before you watch them bout! Come to Earl's Court on October 9 and let the London Rollergirls teach you their derby skills before you see them in action.
This is an intermediate and advanced focus on blocking, and we will go through the theory behind it as well as the skills needed over the course of 4 hours.
Blocking theory focus will be on the following:
• The right hit for the right situation
• The importance of Positional Advantage
We will be working the following skills:
• Positional Blocking
• Counter Blocking
• Teamwork Blocking
• Making space to Block
Who's teaching?
Kamikaze Kitten, Stefanie Mainey + 8 other members of the London Brawling squad.
We will have some refs helping out too.
Location: Earl's Court Exhibition Centre (map)
Time: 11am to 3pm
Price: £25 (includes VAT). Please note that admission to the bout later that day is not included. If you want to make a day of it and watch the first two games of the new season, tickets are available separately here.
LRG runs bootcamps which are open to non-LRG skaters before each of their season double-headers. Each bootcamp focuses on a different skill: pivoting, jamming, offence...
We want to make sure that everyone attending the bootcamps gets the most out of these sessions. Bootcamps are designed for intermediate and advanced skaters, so please only reserve a place at this session if you consider yourself to be advanced or intermediate (compared to other skaters in the UK, not just in your league).
Here are some general criteria for what you should consider to be classed as intermediate and above. There are always exceptions, but please think carefully about whether you can keep up with the rest of the boot camp:
- You should have bouted more than 2 times
- You are considered one of the top skaters in your league and would make the travel team
- You have MASTERED all the minimum skills - and are now focusing on more advanced skill building
We assume that all skaters will have mastered the minimum skill requirements set out in Appendix A to the current WFTDA ruleset (http://wftda.com/rules). However, and in the interests of the safety of all participants, coaches may remove someone who they consider not to have reached an appropriate standard, and who poses a risk of injury to themselves or other members of the group. REFUNDS WILL NOT BE GIVEN IN THIS CASE.
The session will be attended by skaters with training in First Aid should anyone require medical assistance.
